I'm a keen amateur photographer who would like to eventually combine photography with my other interests of travelling, cycling and pencil drawing. I currently work on projects in the telecoms industry but do make sure I take some time out for my photography. My main genres are landscapes, nature, animals, events and sport.

Along with photography I also work in Photoshop; manipulating and tidying photos for myself and others.

My photography has been used by various people and companies, such as a outside broadcasting firm, a major credit card/bank and one photo was in the running to be a Royal Mail stamp in the UK.

I used to work in the computer games industry in various roles, I'm also into music, movies, sports like rugby and football, computer games, web development, art, tech and science, science-fiction and social networking services like Amplify, Flickr, FriendFeed, Google+, Google Reader and Twitter.

If you are interested in using my photos or my services please contact me.

Google+ is now my blog

Google+ is my blog

Well I’ve gone and done it, I’ve now pointed my domains to my +Google+ page. Specifically to a search address that shows all the tidy stuff (not the status update-like posts etc.).

My other blogs (WordPress.com being the main one) are sitting there/here collecting dust and no one reads them plus I’m always on Google+ so it makes sense to move my “blogs” there. In addition my Google+ #Currents edition is exactly what I want from a blog. It uses the content I already post on there, has categories (Sections), a front page and a TOC. It works on mobiles (via Google Currents anyway) and is easy to maintain The layout is basic but clean and there is nothing extra for me to do beyond what I already do on Google+.

Both use hashtags queries so thank goodness I’ve been adding them since the very early days of G+. I’m also thankful that I’ve been formatting my posts and reshares for a while. It has benefited the presentation on Currents, for one.

And thank you for +Max Huijgen for the tip for searching under specific users only via the search operator inurl:, For example if you want to see only my posts then type this into the Google+ search box: “inurl:104405539079062799451”. Very useful. Thanks, Max!

So you can find my “blog” here:
http://blog.koltregaskes.com

And my photography “blog” here:
http://blog.koltregaskesphotography.com

No, it’s not perfect, the search parameters at the top are ugly for a starters, but it’s my best option atm.

You can also find my Google Currents edition here:
http://www.google.com/producer/editions/CAowl8c1/kol_tregaskes

All are work-in-progress but all the content is from my Google+ stream. I just need to add a few tags here and there (which I do anyway) and job done. Well it’s a test, let’s see how I get on. :-)

Moving to WordPress… for now

Hello, I’ve finally decided to consolidate all my blogs (AmplifyBloggerPosterousTumblr and WordPress) into one, well certainly make the move to use just the one.  So unfortunately this blog has lost out… for now.  I’ve making my home at my WordPress sites.  Several reason:

  1. Amplify ditched its extremely useful blogging feature and set very strict limits to title and post lengths
  2. I prefer WordPress for its stats, for its post page, for its themes, for its flexibility and customisation
  3. I’m used to using WordPress from having my own self-hosted site which WordPress

I’ve pointed my blog subdomains to the respective WordPress blogs, so my general blog will be:http://blog.koltregaskes.com

And my photography blog will be:http://blog.koltregaskesphotography.com
I don’t think that could be any easier? :-)
You’ll probably find me hanging around Google+ a lot and you can hook up with me at:http://gbuzz.koltregaskes.com

And you’ll find my home page (which is my About.me page atm) at:http://koltregaskes.com

Along with my photography site (currently my Flick slideshow) at:http://koltregaskesphotography.com

So see you around - hopefully on WordPressGoogle+ or the other various social sites I visit. :-)
